This was another busy week for us at the Colorado State Capitol. As you all know, the week started with the Senate passage of HB 24-1098, where we were one vote short of substantially amending the bill. This kept other Senate Democrats from supporting the Mullica amendment as there was no opportunity for its passage without the support of Senator Marchman. The House has now considered and approved the Senate amendments (the one sought by the CO Apt. Assn. to take a neutral position on the bill), and the bill now moves to the Governor where he is expected to sign it.We continue to have three other major pieces of legislation where I continue working with my housing community colleagues on amendments (SB 24-094, HB-1057 and HB-1259), all in Committee, or on the floor for action, this week. The House has turned their attention to the state budget, which received initial House approval on 2nd reading Thursday, and both the House and Senate were in recess for Good Friday yesterday. They move back to regular business next week on Monday morning. As we get into next week, there are just over 5 weeks left in the 2024 Colorado legislative session.
